New Airline’s voided ticket policy
has changed for all carriers? ARC-the Airlines Reporting
Corporation– is responsible for the neutral reporting
and settlement system for travel agency sales in the US,
Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands on 130+ airlines
and railroads.
Effective with transactions of June 2, 2003, ARC procedures with respect
to voiding airline tickets changed and the ability for
travel agents to void a ticket is limited to midnight
one business day after the date of issue. Once this new voiding deadline
has passed, the ticket can no longer be voided. This new rule affects
all Travel Agents in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin
Islands participating in ARC with no exception.
Individual airlines "customer first" policy
is consistent with this new ARC voiding policy. In general,
an airline customer has 24 hours after purchasing a ticket
to decide if in fact, he/she wants the ticket. The ticket
may be voided up to 24 hours after the reservation has
been made with the airline; however, after that time,
the ticket may no longer be voided.
Again, please be aware that ARC’s new voiding procedures
apply equally to all travel agents and Corporate Travel
Departments. **Note** Williamsburg Travel had previously
been able to void tickets up to one week after issuance
as a service to our customers. |
